Here we are in a
different configuration. Since
this is the meet Sister page, we are going to give you a
bit of “Sistory” (that’s history, sister
style). So, our story is this: We grew up
in Southern Minnesota on a small farm near a small town called
Hanska. We grew up singing. We didn’t even
know not singing was an option. As the story goes,
Alisa (far right in the photo above - not intended as a
political statement) was singing before she could talk. Our
mother Randvig (Run - vig) (it’s Icelandic) being of
a musical persuasion herself, recognized our natural abilities
and began to cultivate our talents by teaching us a large,
albeit simple, repertoire which opened the door to performances
not only for family members but also church and community
events. With both our parents supporting us, we soon
became musical mascots for our little community.
When we got older, we decided to
take the ball and run with it. We sang as a trio
all through those stormy high school and college years. We
even sang through our weddings, various moves
to different communities, and right on into those amazing
having-children years. We
never didn't sing. We worked out lots of stuff along the
way and amazingly, we kept singing. And that’s
why you see us smiling in this picture. We’ve
gotten a little more fancy because now we sing our own music,
but sometimes for fun we break into the songs that take us
back to the little farm just outside the little town in Southern
Minnesota. That’s our story, in a nutshell.

Alisa is Sister’s arranger and musical interpreter. With
her gift for hearing things ( in a good way ), she keeps
the group producing the sound that sets them a part in
a world of trios. She then communicates that sound
to a pool of talented musicians that have become a part
of the Sister circle. She also arranges her household
which consists of her awesome husband Tom and three little
angels, Isaac, Caleb, and Rachel. |
